The legalisation convention is the convention abolishing the requirement of legalisation for foreign public documents, also known as the Apostille Convention (5 October 1961). This convention does not completely abolish legalisation but shortens the chain so that only a single action is required, the addition of an apostille. A document bearing an apostille does not require any further legalisation by the embassy or consulate of the country in which it is to be used.

Legalization of public documents issued in Macau, to be used and given effect in the Contracting States to the Hague Convention (Affixing apostille).
Procedures and documents:
The applicant must complete a form provided by the Directorate of Legal Affairs and present the original identification document and the original document legalization whose intended audience, the Human Resources Division of the Directorate of Legal Affairs, located at Rua do Field no. 162, Edf. Public Administration, 19. º andar, Macau.
As a rule, within 2 business days after the request.
